Growing beyond borders with intelligent warehouse management

Expanding into new markets has never been easier - or more demanding.

Digital commerce has opened new opportunities for companies to reach customers around the world. Yet international growth is about much more than launching a new online shop or entering another market. Behind every successful expansion lies a logistics network capable of delivering products reliably, efficiently, and at scale.

As companies grow across regions, warehouse operations become a strategic success factor. The ability to replicate proven processes, integrate new facilities quickly, and maintain visibility across an international logistics network increasingly determines whether growth can be sustained.

Building a scalable logistics foundation

International expansion introduces new operational complexity. Additional warehouses, growing order volumes, regional fulfillment requirements, and increasingly automated facilities all place new demands on logistics organizations.

Meeting these challenges requires more than additional warehouse capacity. It requires a scalable operating model supported by a warehouse management system that connects processes, people, and technologies across the entire logistics network.

Modern warehouse management systems have evolved beyond inventory control. They provide the digital foundation for standardized operations while giving organizations the flexibility to adapt to local requirements and changing business conditions.

With the right platform, companies can:

  • standardize warehouse processes across multiple locations
  • integrate automation technologies and robotics
  • gain real-time visibility into logistics performance
  • continuously improve operations through data-driven insights

As logistics networks become increasingly connected, artificial intelligence adds another dimension by helping companies analyze operational data, identify opportunities for optimization, and evaluate alternative process scenarios before implementing changes..

Supporting international growth in practice

LPP, one of Central and Eastern Europe's largest fashion retailers, demonstrates how scalable logistics can support international expansion.

Over the past two decades, the company has grown from a national retailer into an international organization serving customers across multiple European markets. Supporting this growth required a logistics infrastructure capable of expanding alongside the business while maintaining consistent operational standards.

Today, LPP Logistics operates three distribution centers and six fulfillment centers covering more than 600,000 square meters of warehouse space. Since 2007, PSIwms has supported the company's logistics operations by managing material flows across its warehouse network.

One of the most important capabilities in this environment is integrating new logistics facilities quickly without disrupting existing operations. Standardized warehouse processes and a scalable WMS architecture allow new sites to become part of the network while maintaining transparency and operational consistency.

A recent example is LPP's highly automated logistics center in Romania. Covering approximately 65,000 square meters, the facility combines advanced automation technologies with PSIwms to support distribution across multiple European markets.

With nearly 1,100 autonomous robots and the capacity to process more than 80,000 customer orders per day, the site illustrates how intelligent software and automation can work together to manage increasing operational complexity.

Equally important, the implementation—including configuration and system integration—was completed in less than three and a half months, enabling the facility to begin operations one month ahead of schedule. The project demonstrates how standardized processes and scalable software can accelerate international expansion while minimizing implementation risk.

Logistics as an enabler of internationalization

As companies continue to expand into new markets, logistics is becoming an increasingly important competitive differentiator. Success depends not only on moving products efficiently today, but also on building an organization capable of scaling tomorrow.

Intelligent warehouse management provides the operational foundation for that growth. By combining standardized processes, automation, real-time visibility, and artificial intelligence, companies can expand their logistics networks with greater speed, transparency, and confidence.

For organizations pursuing international growth, scalable logistics is no longer simply an operational requirement - it is a strategic capability.
